The 2nd China-Canada Symposium on Structural and Earthquake Engineering Hosted in Guangzhou

On December 10, the 2nd China-Canada Symposium on Structural and Earthquake Engineering was hosted in Guangzhou.

More than 180 representatives from 53 schools and scientific research institutions attended the Symposium including Professor Zhou Fulin, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Zhou Yun, Vice President of Guangzhou University, Professor Carlos Ventura, Academician of Canadian Academy of Engineering as well as other academicians and experts.

The theme of the Symposium is The Next-Generation New Seismic Resistant Structures and Seismic Protective Technologies. It aims to promote common development and implementation of advanced structural systems and protective technologies for researchers and engineers from China, Canada and the other countries. The attendees showcased the latest development of related advanced technologies and developed resilient structural systems and technologies to help prevent damage from future earthquakes.

This symposium includes keynote speeches, panel discussions, research presentations, social networking, and a technical tour. This symposium is expected to provide a platform for all participants to connect with one another to form an international network for sharing, learning and fostering novel technologies in earthquake engineering.
