Director-General of SKA Visits Guangzhou University

On September 22nd, Professor Philip Diamond, the world-famous astronomer and Director-General of the Square Kilometer Array (SKA), visited Guangzhou University (GZHU) to discuss joint participation in the SKA project and gave an academic report to students on the topic of exploring the universe and the origin of life.


As one of the founding members of SKA, China has undertaken significant tasks. The Astrophysics Center of the School of Physics and Electronic Engineering of GZHU have been involved in SKA data processing since 2015. As the only Chinese scientist working in a technical position in the Headquarters of SKA, GZHU Professor Wang Feng has led his team to take charge in imaging and calibration data processing of the SKA radio interference array. Their work has the distinction of being the leader in the world.
